Hi everyone,
I feel like I'm missing something simple here and was hoping someone could help.

I put together a Bear Prusa clone, kind of. Anyway, I printed some parts and put it together pretty much like the Bear. It uses the Ramps 1.4 and the Drv8825 driver (https://www.oyostepper.com/goods-887-5PCSPack-DRV8825-Stepper-Driver-Module-with-Heat-Sink-for-3d-Printer-Reprap.html).

My problem is that the Y-axis motor sometimes gets a little lumpy and then the printer errors out and has to be reset. If I home the printer, sometimes it stops normally and then starts ticking about once a second for a minute or two before it needs to be reset.

I ran it without the Y-axis belt and the same thing happened.

I replaced the driver boards, both the Drv8825 and the A4988. I replaced the stepper motors. I replaced the Ramps board. I did not replace the Mega board. I have isolated the wires to the stepper motors so there is no crosstalk.
I have adjusted the voltage. Changed the stepper settings from no microstepping to 1/32. Set the steps per mm to various values to fix the weird missed steps.

It's only on the Y axis. The heat sink is hot and the motors are whining as well.

I have no idea what I am missing.
